Ugly Images of Asian Rivals Become Best Sellers in Japan

"The two comic books, portraying Chinese and Koreans as base peoples and advocating confrontation with them, have become runaway best sellers in Japan in the last four months.

In their graphic and unflattering drawings of Japan's fellow Asians and in the unapologetic, often offensive contents of their speech bubbles, the books reveal some of the sentiments underlying Japan's worsening relationswith the rest of Asia.

They also point to Japan's longstanding unease with the rest of Asia and its own sense of identity, which is akin to Britain's apartness from the Continent. Much of Japan's history in the last century and a half has been guided by the goal of becoming more like the West and less like Asia. Today, China and South Korea's rise to challenge Japan's position as Asia's economic, diplomatic and cultural leader is inspiring renewed xenophobiaagainst them here. ..."

Changing Schedule

I've done it. I quit the Medical Transcription Course last Friday. I signed a form and will get my check on Friday. I can't do it. I just can't wake up as early as I used to. I'll go back to MTC Academy as soon as they open their afternoon classes in December. So I'm not completely out of MedicalTranscription.

Medical Transcription course

Been taking the Medical Transcription course for four days now. I really have to say, I am bored with it. Medicine is boring unless you have the desire to take it. I'm taking the course to open new doors for me in the Medical Transcription field. Sure it's a turn off that starting salaries of transcriptionists in the Philippines is approximately 9k Pesos, but actually having a direct line to a doctor in the States is as close to gold as it will get netting between 25k to 50k Pesos a month depending on quota.

I'm studying at the Diliman, Quezon City branch of MTC Academy for almost a week now. Each day has a lecture in the morning ang laboratory work (typing) in the afternoon. I admit I'm whining about it already. I'm forced to type properly wherein I position my fingers at the A,S,D,F, and J,K,L,: keys instead of the 'tuldok system' which gives me 60+wpm at 95% accuracy.

Anyway, as far as I can see I'll probably fail every written test about the medical terms. Heres hoping I coast it.

A Update

Been a while since I last posted. God bless Rosa Parks.

There was a Comcis Creation Seminar last October 29-30 sponsored by Glasshouse Graphics like last year. Wouldv'e gone back I didn't got no funds.

We had a long ass vacation here in the Philippines, From October 29 to November 1. That's... (counts using fingers) four days. Then two days of work. Then a three-day weekend cauese Ramadan was celebrated on friday, the fourth of November. You can already tell we're a lazy bunch of asians with the worst possible example: ME. Cause I don't got no job. We may not have aderogatory words for ourselves but we are damn lazy.

Started my Medical Transcription classes last November 8. more on that in a upcoming post.

Also got back the new posters I had framed. I really do gotta photograph all the framed posters.
