Sin City movie site goes live

Waaaaaaahooooooo! The
Sin City site is live. Full of goodies for your desktop and lots of stuff to download plus Flash games to whet your appetite until the movie premiers in April. This movie could well surpass the Spider-Man movies and Superman the Movie as the best comic book movie ever

My computer is goin' under

Aaaaaggghhhh! My computer is dyin'. Yesterday Brionne Barba (
click here to see his entry in Friendster) confirmed what I feared. My computer is going tits-up on me. I knew its going tits-up cause whenever I close a windows explorer window the error message message box pops up a good 10 seconds afterwards everytime. I called Brionne yesterday and he confirrmed it.

I probably won't be posting in the next few weeks. Even though I'm unemployed, I still don't have time to fix the problem let alone reinstall the damn OS.

The Watchmen movie site goes live

The Watchmen movie site goes live. The best comic book series of all time is finally going to be a movie. As glorious and exciting as that sounds I seriously doubt that the mini-siries can be turned into a valid film in one movie. A movie trilogy of Watchmen might be acceptable. Making an HBO mini-siries of it will definitely be a humungous plus.

Some info about the book: It was written by the best comic writer Alan Moore(Top Ten, Swamp Thing, Promethea), Drawn by the incomparable Dave Gibbons (The Originals), and it has the best combination of words ever put into thought bubbles. I wanna type it here but its essential to the story and it might spoil the book for you. The movie's site has only one page for now. It has the book's iconic Smiley Face Button with a drop of blood spilled on it.

Some rumors about the movie:

  • Ralph Fiennes and Jude Law are rumored to play Ozymandias. (Good choices those two.)
  • John Cusack is rumored to play Nite-Owl.
  • The Script of the movie is rumored to be from the comic itself. word for Alan Moore written word. (Man, would that be awesome or what? I'm asking you. I'm not telling you its awesome. Its in the form of a question so I'm asking you.)
  • Sigourney Weaver is rumored to play the older version of the Silk Spectre
  • The Dr. Manhattan character is rumored to be made from cgi instead of using a live actor. (Although using a live actor will work, He's got to be naked the entire time.)

    Blogger went tits-up on me

Sonova...! Blogger went tits up one me friday night and i had to redo everything: haloscan commenting, the mouse pointer trailers, the links, the ads by google. After I clicked on the 'save template changes', it went to the 'page cannot be displayed' error message. It erased half of the code in the template as soon as i went back to check on the template code.

    This better not happen again!

    Research Blog follow up

I forgot to mention the research blog is going to do the following

  • a diary of my research activities
  • bookmark sites (which i'm also doing at http://del.icio.us/jasonreyes)
  • discuss the joys and depressing grief that comes along in doing research
  • keep my references in order
  • scrapbook for my comic book ideas (I love me comics and manga)
  •

    My first research blog

Announcing the coming of my first research blog "Industrial Strength Meme".

Due to my unemployment, I read a lot of books to keep me busy. Textbooks, Manga, Comic books, novels, newspapers, magazines, Internet news sites. After reading all those I've got ideas all jumbled up in my brain, chaosly unsorted and popping in and out of my train of thought all day everyday. I have a paper-based pda which is really a small notepad that you can carry in your pocket to write my ideas on.

My pda is basically just a temporary short term memory storage device. My research blog is gonna be more permanent. It's gonna allow people to view my ideas and lets face it, anyone who has ideas needs someone they can bounce their ideas with like 1-on-1 streetball.

Sometime in March the research blog is gonna be open with posts that are either new ideas, rehashed ideas, ideas that have been around for ages but have only just gotten to my attention, terrible ideas, kick-butt ideas, trippy ideas, ideas that stank and any other idea you ca think of. Idealism might pop-in whenever it wants.

Reviews, biased editorials, and instructions, and related matters will also be posted in the research blog.

    Bring it on!

Haloscan commenting and trackback have been added to this blog.

new add-on out. old add-on in.

Friggin' nifty special effect my ass. All those beating (bleeding) hearts falling like snow takes up an insulting amount of the systems resources. I've removed that effect and brought back the hearts trailing the mouse pointer. Its good enough for what it needs to do.

    add-on in; add-on out

I've added nifty little special effect in my blog. It's these gently-falling hearts. I couldnt make it work together with the hearts trailing the mouse pointer so I ditched the mouse trailers. It's a bugger to work it with hours of failures.

I also added a 'Links' section in between the recent posts and archives sections.

I'm thinking of adding a shoutbox in here too. we'll see.

    blog add-on: mouse heart trailer

I've added a bunch of beating hearts to follow the mouse pointer where ever it goes. Its not perfect since it keeps its distance when the mouse moves over the posts and the profiles sidebar, but it'll do in the spirit of the month.

    Prosumer

I've found out what prosumer means.

"... a purchaser of technical equipment who wants to obtain goods of a better quality than consumer items, but can’t afford professional items (older terms for goods of this intermediate quality are semi-professional and industrial quality). Here, the word is a blend of professional and consumer. Prosumers of this sort are famed for their enthusiasm for new products and their tolerance of flaws and, from the marketing point of view, have much in common with early adopters. This usage is common among those selling video equipment, digital cameras, and similar goods(...)"

    Color change

Since its February, the month of love (Doesnt matter if its animal love, battery-powered plastic toy love, same sex love, universal love, love for the sake of love, forbidden love or plain love), I've decided to change the color scheme from my usual blue to valentine pink and red. Its a bit sickening, yes (and girly).

You know the taste you get when you've over-chewed a big wad of gum, that is what this color scheme looks like. Thats the taste of love.

As usual, I don't got nobody this Valentines. And there's a really great Valentine's Day film too: A Very Long Engagement. Oh well. time to cowboy up.

Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei.

Been a while since I typed up here. So whats new since then? Let me see...

I watched Elektra this past sunday all for the glory and betterment of Jennifer Garner. I don't how it betters her but hey...

The movie is bad. Its pitiful. All throughout the movie I was already counting the things the akes of the movie could have done it better (There goes the betterment of Jennifer Garner). Did jennifer garner seem a bit mannish in that red getup? I'm sorry my lady. I didnt mean to call you a man. A thousing pardons.

Good freaking good! Are the makers of this movie dense? Didn't they watch Spider-Man the movie? Doesnt take a genius to know that comic book movies have to follow whatever formula was used for Spider-Man the movie for it to be watchable.

Bottom line: Marvel has to get all their characters movie liscence all under one roof. One advantage is sharing of characters. can anyone think of another?

I've finally seen the first 15 episodes of Gundam SEED Destiny. After watching the end of Gundam SEED on Cartoon Network many months ago, I told my buddy Chen that I wish there would be a series that continues in the Gundam Seed universe. Lo and behold, there is. The series starts off slow with the theft of three ZAFT manufactured Gundams and the chase to recover them from the Gundam stealing Earth forces and picks up when the colony Junius 7 is rigged with flare motors for it to fall to earth.

I'll admit colony dropping is a big thing in the Gundam mythos but can't they do something else or drop something else? I'll tell more on Gundam SEED Destiny when i find the time.

On wrestling news, Batista won the 2005 Royal Rumble outlasting 29 others. He beat the Doctor of Thuganomics John Cena to win it. Batista is like my favorite wrestler. He gets pops as big as HHH if not bigger. This guy is massive. His physique looks like it was chiseled from granite. He still looks a little clunky when moving around the ring. But thats because of his size. After winning 2005 Royal Rumble he is eligible to challenge the champ at Wrestlemania 21. His biggest choice in his career is to challenge which champ. Raw's Heavyweight Champion Triple H or Smackdown!'s WWE Champion JBL. I say go for broke. Unite the belts. Be the Undisputed Champion and dominate the wrestling world like no other.

I've had a few job interviews but so far no such luck.

On Friday i'll be going to the JETRO Library to research on the solar panels, cells and wind vanes used in Japan to conserve energy. I mean What kind of campaign did the government do to convince people to use these energy saving devices. First things first though I don't know if it was the Japanese government that initiated the campaign. That's what I intend to find out in the JETRO Library.
